Trip Overview
For over 15 years, we have been guiding climbers to the summit of Mount Shasta. With more than 70 successful summits, your guide Shane brings unmatched experience and knowledge of the mountain. Join us and see firsthand the difference a personally guided trip makes.
This 2-day trip is an accelerated version of our 3-day trip. The accelerated trip is ideal for climbers with previous mountaineering experience or a very high level of physical fitness with overnight backpacking experience who want to summit Mt Shasta safely with a guide. We’ll spend the afternoon of our first day reviewing the basic mountaineering skills.
Expect long days, steep terrain, and significant altitude gain. The chances of reaching the summit are greatly increased with proper physical training. Maintaining a steady uphill pace is not simply a matter of fitness, it is a matter of safety and risk management.
Climbing Mount Shasta is a demanding ascent that requires discipline, accountability, and grit. Those who arrive prepared will find the experience deeply rewarding, with standing on the summit as a true personal achievement.

Itinerary:
Day 1 – Approach, High Camp Setup, and Skills Training
Meet at 8am in Mount Shasta City at Shastice Park for a gear check. After final preparations, we’ll drive to the Bunny Flat trailhead and begin the approach to our high camp at approximately 9,500 feet. This is the only camp we’ll establish on the mountain. This day covers about 3 miles with 2,500 feet of elevation gain. After camp is set, your guide will conduct focused snow skills training, including the use of crampons, ice axe, and safe movement on steep snow. This is a physically demanding day and sets the foundation for summit success. Early rest and early bed time are essential on this day. Preparation and recovery here directly affect our ability to perform on summit day.
Day 2 – Summit Attempt & Descent
Summit day begins well before dawn, typically around 2am, for an alpine start. Expect cold, steep, and demanding climbing conditions. A steady, disciplined pace is critical for safety. Our goal is to reach the summit by mid to late morning and descend all the way to trailhead by no later than 5pm. The effort involves thousands of vertical feet of gain and loss.
