Trip Overview

For over 15 years, we have been going to the summit of Mount Shasta. With over 50+ summits, your guide Shane knows Shasta! Join us and let Shane show you firsthand the difference a personally guided trip makes!

Our 3-day Mt Shasta Summit Climb is our most popular guided trip. Learn mountaineering skills while going to the summit of Mt Shasta via the Avalanche Gulch route.  The 3-day itinerary gives us plenty of time on a more relaxed schedule to acclimatize and learn the basic snow climbing skills.

  • All your mountaineering and overnight gear is included, except mountaineering boots and clothing. This includes sleeping bag, headlamp, crampons, ice axe, climbing harness, and more! You can rent mountain boots from the 5th Season gear shop in Mt Shasta City.
  • All group camping equipment is included; such as tents and stoves.
  • All breakfasts and dinners are included while on the mountain and prepared for you by your guide.
  • Mt. Shasta Summit Passes and Wilderness Permits are also included.
  • Human waste pack out bags are also included. They are mandatory to use in the Mt Shasta Wilderness Area.

*For summit trips after June, you may also be interested in our guided trip on the Clear Creek route, or the Hotlum/Bolam Ridge. We also offer an Accelerated Mt Shasta Summit Climb via the Avalanche Gulch route over 2 days.

We’ll meet at 8am in Mount Shasta City at Shastice Park for a gear check. Then we’ll drive to the Bunny Flat trailhead. From the trailhead, we’ll make our approach hike to Horse Camp where we’ll setup our first camp for the night on the mountain for our Mt Shasta summit climb. This first day is approximately 2 miles and 1000 feet of elevation gain.

We’ll pack up and move higher on the mountain to establish our high camp at approximately 9,500 feet on the mountain. After setting up camp, your guide will instruct a snow skills course on the basics of using ice axe and crampons. We’ll get to bed early in preparation for the following day’s summit attempt.

The big day! We’ll wake up early at approximately 2am for an alpine start and set out on our Mt Shasta summit climb! The goal is be on the summit by 11am and back to the Bunny Flat trailhead by 5pm.
