For over 15 years, we have been going to the summit of Mount Shasta. With over 50+ summits and 20+ Mt Shasta summit ski descents, your guide Shane knows Shasta! Join us and let Shane show you firsthand the difference a personally guided trip makes!

This is a private trip with just you and the guide to the ski the West Face.

This Mt Shasta summit ski descent trip is only offered as a private trip with one guest. Even though, we will climb the mountain a single day, it is actually 2-day trip. On Day 1, we will do a ski tour to the upper mountain to 10,000 feet to acclimatize and so your guide can assess your downhill skiing ability. We’ll then return to town where we’ll sleep in the comfort of a bed before attempting the summit in a single day the following morning. Excellent physical fitness is required.

* You may also be interested in our other private trip which is a 2-day version of this trip where we’ll setup a base camp on the mountain called the Private – Accelerated Mt Shasta Summit Ski Descent Via West Face. For the non-private and less expensive version of this accelerated trip, check out our Accelerated Mt Shasta Summit Ski Descent Via West Face.  If you’re interested in a guided ski trip on a more relaxed itinerary, check out our Mt Shasta Summit Ski Descent Via West Face.

Itinerary

DAY 1
We’ll meet at 7am in Mount Shasta City at Shastice Park for a gear check. Then we’ll drive to the Bunny Flat trailhead. We’ll then begin ski tour for the day to the upper mountain near 10,000 feet looking for the good skiing. We’ll practice using our ski crampons and discuss skinning techniques. Your guide will also instruct a snow skills course on the proper use of ice axe and crampons. After skiing 3,000 feet back to the Bunny Flat trailhead, your guide will brief you on what to expect for our summit attempt the following morning. You and the guide will then go seperate ways before reconvening the following morning for an alpine start.

DAY 2
We’ll reconvene the following the morning at the Bunny Flat Trailhead at approximately 1;30am for a final trip briefing and gear check. By 2am, we will have departed on our climbing skins heading direct to the summit of Mt Shasta via Avalanche Gulch route. Our summit turnaround time is 11am. This gives us 9 hours to move 6 miles over approximately 7,000 feet of elevation gain. We must move efficiently and meet perquisite time objectives. After summiting, we’ll walk over to the West Face, clip into our skis, and begin our Mt Shasta summit ski descent skiing 7,000 feet back to the Bunny Flat Trailhead.
